“Place-making, the Public Sphere, and Responsive Environments”
May 1st 2pm-4:30pm, Concordia Hexagram Black Box
Moderator: Dr Shauna Janssen
The long table is a public event for P.A.R.E researchers to discuss and critically reflect on the ubiquity of digital media in the public sphere and how it is increasingly being used as tool for creating immersive and aesthetic urban experiences.
The concept for a long table was conceived by artist Lois Weaver. As a format for dialogue, the long table experiments with participation and public engagement by reappropriating a dinner table atmosphere as a public forum. Quite literally, the long table will be set up with chairs, microphones and refreshments where anyone and everyone attending the event is welcome to come to the table, ask questions, and make statements.
